it's been snowing and the drifts are getting pretty high these last couple days. that storm system that's wreaked havoc out in seattle and portland dumped about 2 feet of snow on missoula. when i was driving my carpool up to work yesterday, the car was met with an unplowed moose lake road. honestly if there were maybe 2 more inches, i probably would've gotten stuck somewhere along the way.

so i am volunteering to help coach some local kids in the game of hockey. today was our session, and the skill level is in a wide range. it was quite tiring just getting them all fitted and laced up. we were on the ice for about an hour and a half with some drills and a couple of scrimmages. i haven't played in ages, and boy my legs and back are sore. my skates aren't really broken in completely yet, so i have some developing blisters. all in all though, it was a good time. met some more people from the area, and had fun with the kids.

this next week's probably gonna be a long one at work, as i wait for the holidays and a much needed couple days off. on friday i had my 6 month eval, and apparently i've been doing a pretty good job. it's nice to get feedback and confirmation that i've been doing a halfway decent job. i've been part of the planning process to institute new changes to make things in our department run more efficiently with the limited resources a non-profit invariably runs into. as the new year approaches, it'll be interesting to actually implement and manage some of that.

had a really nice holiday and weekend, don't really want to go back to work tomorrow. got together with some of the crew and had a really great thanksgiving dinner. turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, oyster stuffing, salad, mac and cheese, green beans, ice cream, apple turnovers, cookies, and i'm sure i'm forgetting other edible delights. proceeded to go into a food coma for awhile.
